Sumter, SC …… Robert Lee Mitchum, age 49, husband of 24 years to Donna Mitchum, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at MUSC Charleston.
Born in Canon City, Colorado, he was the son of Kathleen Ann Martinez Moore and the late Samuel Jackson Mitchum. Robert served the community of Sumter as a deputy with the Sumter County Sherriff’s Department. He was a member of the CAT Team and retired as a SGT. Robert was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed both hunting and fishing. His true passion in life came from spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted, husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother; a son, Brandon Lee Mitchum of Sumter; a daughter, Katelyn Brooke Jones of Sumter; two brothers, Richard George Borges and his wife Susan of Florence, SC, and Samuel Jackson Mitchum II; three sisters, Claudia Ann Mitchum, April Rosetti, and Margaret Mitchum; four beautiful grandchildren, Hunter, Marley, Kaisyn, and Thompson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a brother, Mario Jose Borges.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 2:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rodney Howard officiating. The burial will follow the service in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
