Dalzell, SC…………… Robert “Bob” Pittman Carter, age 87, beloved husband of the late Patricia Jean Yancey Carter, died on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023 at Doctors Hospital, Augusta, GA.
Mr. Carter was born in Chase City, VA, a son of the late Robert Edward Carter and Myrtle Gladys Andrews Boswell. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-1974, serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, retiring as a Senior Master Sargeant. He also worked at Westinghouse, FCX, Garnay, and Power Clean. Bob was an avid deer hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Maxie Branch Hunt Club since 1991. He was also a member of the Christian Fellowship that would eat together several times per week and the Hillcrest Masonic Lodge #397.
Survivors are: Two daughters, Kimberly Jean Zilch and her husband John and Kelli Pollock and her husband David all of Dalzell, SC; a brother, Marvin Carter and his wife Shirley of South Hill, VA; a daughter in law, Michelle Austin Carter of Dalzell, SC and Sherri Baker of Sumter, SC; He was blessed with 13 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two sons, Keith Edward Carter and Kevin Robert Carter.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023 at 12:00pm at Dalzell Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Barnette officiating. Burial with full military hoors will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 4th, 2023 from 6-8pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
