Ronald Lamar Brockington

Ronald Lamar Brockington, affectionately known as “Ron,” was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, uncle, and loyal friend. His life was a testament to love, laughter, service, and unwavering generosity. On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, Ronald entered into eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy that will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Ronald was born on April 23, 1984, in Charleston, South Carolina, to his loving parents, Chloe (Louis) Gross and Ronald (Evon) Brockington. He spent part of his childhood overseas while attending Bitburg Elementary School in Bitburg, Germany. Upon returning to South Carolina, he attended Shaw Heights Middle School on Shaw Air Force Base before graduating from Sumter High School in Sumter, South Carolina.

Following high school, Ronald proudly answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. During his honorable military service, he deployed to Iraq, serving his nation with courage, dedication, and selflessness. After returning home from his deployment and completing his military service, Ronald devoted himself to his family and built a meaningful career as the Maintenance Supervisor at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery Park, where he faithfully served for more than fourteen years. His commitment, dependability, and strong work ethic earned the respect and admiration of everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Ronald shared a beautiful love story with his beloved wife, Rebekah Lee Brockington. Together, they spent 21 wonderful years building a life filled with love, laughter, faith, and unwavering devotion. Their union was blessed with two beloved children, William Brockington and Aaliyah Marie Brockington, who were the pride and joy of his life. Ronald’s greatest joy was being a loving husband and a devoted father. Whether spending time with his family, encouraging his children, or creating memories with those he loved most, his family was always at the center of everything he did.

To know Ronald was to love him. He possessed an infectious smile, a heart of gold, and a personality that could brighten even the darkest day. Ronald was contagiously funny and had an extraordinary gift for lighting up an entire room; he could put a smile on anyone’s face. His animated stories, unforgettable tales, and quick wit captivated everyone fortunate enough to hear them. He truly never met a stranger. Whether you had known him for years or had just met him, Ronald had a remarkable way of making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and like family.

He was caring, charismatic, generous, fiercely protective, and incredibly selfless. If someone was in need, Ronald would gladly give them the shirt off his back without hesitation or expectation. He lived with a servant’s heart and loved deeply. His kindness knew no bounds, his laughter was contagious, and his presence brought comfort, peace, and joy to everyone around him. He was the kind of man who made ordinary moments unforgettable simply by being himself. His warm smile, gentle spirit, unwavering love, and genuine compassion will forever be remembered by all who were blessed to know him.

Ronald found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, hunting, playing his guitar, shooting pool, and cooking alongside his wife. He treasured spending time playing video games with his son and brother and could always be found cheering enthusiastically from the sidelines at his daughter Aaliyah’s softball games. A creative soul by nature, Ronald had an incredible ability to make something out of nothing, often turning ordinary moments into lasting memories through his ingenuity and imagination. He attended Northwestern Christian Ministries, where he continued to strengthen his faith and relationship with God.

Ronald leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving wife, Rebekah Lee Brockington; his beloved children, William Brockington and Aaliyah Marie Brockington; his parents, Chloe (Louis) Gross and Ronald (Evon) Brockington; his siblings, Corey Gross, Lauren Gross, Alicia (Marion) Harriott, Bria Gross, Kareem Brown, LaRhonda (Reginald) Clark, CheQuetta Brockington, Contisa (Dante) Jessie, Christina Gross, and Louis Gross Jr.; his paternal grandmother, Dorothy A. Brockington; his mother-in-law, Sherry (Joe) Portillo; and a host of cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were forever enriched by his love, kindness, and friendship.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Nancy Matthews, and his paternal grandfather, Henry L. Brockington.

Although our hearts are filled with sorrow, we rejoice in knowing that Ronald’s story does not end here. His laughter will continue to echo through family gatherings, his stories will be shared for generations, and the love he freely gave will continue to live on in every life he touched. The memories he created, the lives he impacted, and the example he set will forever remain a source of comfort and strength for those who loved him.

Until we meet again, we will remember your infectious laugh, your generous heart, your unwavering love, and the light you brought into every room. Your legacy lives on in your wife, your children, your family, your friends, and in every life you touched. You fought the good fight, you finished your race, and now you rest peacefully in the presence of your Lord and Savior. Your work here is done, but your love will remain with us always.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 5:00 – 6:00 pm, at Bullock Funeral Home.

A funeral service with military honors will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 1:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel.
