Russell Melville Thurmond IV

Sumter, SC…..Russell Melville Thurmond IV, age 61, loving husband of 24 years to Renee Marie Stowe Thurmond, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025.

Russell was born in Guam, the son of Russell M. Thurmond III and Linda Phillips Thurmond. He worked as a delivery driver for many years for Best Lumber Company, Jefferson Barns and Lumber, and Lowes. He was a long-standing member of St. Anne St. Jude Roman Catholic Church. He will be remembered as a man who always had a funny story or a joke to tell. Russell will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife and parents, Russell is survived by his sister, Amy Fuller and her husband Josh of Toronto Canada, and his faithful companion, his cat, George.  

An Inurnment will be scheduled at a later date.
