Sandra Kay (Gilbert) Adams

Sumter, SC…….Sandra Kay Adams, age 83, beloved wife of the late Edward Bryan Adams, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Sandra was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Foy Jethro Gilbert and the late Bertha Ida Henderson Gilbert. She dedicated her career to Allstate Insurance Company and Delmar Studios. But her true passion was art—she found joy in painting and working with ceramics. She was also a devoted attendee of Veritas Church as well as services at National Health Care, where her faith and kindness touched the lives of many. Her creativity and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Sandra will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister.  

Sandra is survived by a son, Timothy Adams and his wife, Angela of Sumter; a daughter, Laurie Smith and her husband Barney of Gastonia, NC;  two brothers, Russell Gilbert and his late wife, Betty of Charlotte, NC and Ralph “Butch” Gilbert and his wife, Gwenn of Monroe, NC; three grandchildren, Ethan Adams, Jacob Adams and Caleb Adams;  and two step-greatgrandchildren, Michael and Grabriel.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sandra is preceded in death by one step-grandchild, Randy Smith.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Sunset Forest Baptist Church in Gastonia, NC, at 3:00 p.m.

The family will have a visitation and receive family and friends one hour prior to the memorial service from 2:00-3:00 p.m.
