Sumter, SC….Shelby Jean Woodard Webb, age 85, beloved wife of 61 years to the late William Lee Webb, Sr., passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at her home.
Shelby was born in Johnson County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Albert Allen Woodard and the late Ettie L. Peedin. Shelby worked at Korn for 32 years before her retirement. She was a devoted member of Northside Memorial Baptist Church and a member of the seniors at the church. She will be remembered for her faith and the example she set through a life grounded in Christian values. She made sure her grandchildren were raised in church, planting in them the same love for God that guided her own life.
She found joy in serving others, whether volunteering at the VA or lending a helping hand wherever it was needed. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, reading, raising birds, and fishing. Christian music was one of her great loves, and so was living a life of service.
Shelby will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind the legacy of a loving mother, grandmother, great‑grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend; one whose compassion, faith, and gentle spirit will be remembered always.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, William Lee Webb, Jr., and his wife Doris of West Columbia, Loyd Allen Webb and his wife Rebecca of Dalzell, her daughter; Bonnie Webb Wallace of Dalzell, her brother, James Woodard of Goldsboro, NC, her sisters; Linda Watkins of Princeton, NC, Nora Lee Woodard of Princeton, NC and Billie Mae Woodard of Princeton, NC, four grandchildren; William Lee Webb III, Joseph Webb, Michael Orta and Desire Draper, five great grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by five sisters, Adalene, Betty, Margaret, Joyce, and Sue.
