Sumter, SC ….. Shirley Singleton, age 85, beloved wife of the late Claude “Red” Jennings Singleton, Sr. died on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at her residence.
Born in Sumter she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Jackie Coker. Shirley cherished her family and her greatest happiness came from spending time with the ones she loved most. She always offered kindness, strength and unconditional love to everyone she knew. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Ciara Singleton Mintz and her husband Raymond; two great grandchildren, Kylie Reidy and Isla Mintz; two brothers; Sammy Coker and his wife Diane and Clint Coker and his wife Beth; two sisters, Marrie Coker and Gloria Stokes and her husband Jack and a sister-in-law, Karen Coker.
She is preceded in death by her son, Claude Jennings Singleton, Jr. and three brothers, Dale Coker, Sr., Richard Coker, and Tony Coker, Sr.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 3:00 pm in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
