Dale “Stump” Floyd, age 59, beloved husband of nearly 11 years to Stephanie Floyd, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2026, after a seven-year battle with illness, at Prisma Health Tuomey with his wife by his side.
Born in Sumter, SC, he was the son of the late Eldridge Floyd and Letty McKenzie. Dale was a devoted member of the Carolina Rebel, Sumter Chapter. Known to many as simply “Stump,” Dale earned his nickname early in life and carried it with pride ever since. He was a man of strong character, a steady hand, and a heart as big as the miles he traveled on his motorcycle. Riding wasn’t just a hobby for Dale; it was his freedom, his therapy, and his way of connecting with the world around him. Cruising back roads or heading out on long stretches of highway, he felt most at home with the wind at his back and the road ahead.
Dale will be remembered for his straightforward nature, his sense of humor, and his unwavering willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. He valued hard work, good company, and simple pleasures, especially time spent with family and friends, sharing stories and laughter.
He leaves behind loved ones who will forever cherish his memory, along with a community of friends and fellow riders who were proud to know and ride beside him. Leaving behind a life defined by grit, loyalty, devotion to his family, and a deep love for the open road.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Stephanie; his children, Stanley Floyd, Jr. and Georgia Floyd; bonus children, Kayla Floyd, Kelly Floyd, Braydon Floyd-Fletcher, and grandchildren, Carter, Aemilia, Libby Raye, Greyson, Kolton, Lucas, and Savannah.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant son, Harley Floyd, and three siblings, Leavon “Bunki” Floyd, Bruce “Judas” Floyd, and Darlene Floyd.
A celebration of Dale’s life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 5:00 pm at the Carolina Rebels, Sumter Chapter Clubhouse, 2610 Emil Rd., Wedgefield, SC 29168.
Family and Friends may visit the Floyd home to pay their respects at any time.
Though he has taken his final ride, Dale “Stump” Floyd’s legacy will live on in every rumble of an engine and every mile traveled in his memory. Ride on, Stump, you will not be forgotten.
