Steven Roy Secrest

Sumter, SC……Steven Roy Secrest, age 74, beloved husband of 49 years to Christie Lee Secrest, died on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Prisma Health Tuomey.

Steven was born in Mendon, Illinois, the son of the late Roy Secrest and Darlene Ray Secrest. He graduated from Unity High in Mendon, Illinois and went on to receive an associate’s degree in aerospace technology and later attended Troy University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business. He had a 24-year honorable military career in the United States Air Force and would afterwards go on to work at Jim Walter Homes in the mortgage department in Columbia, SC.  

Steven enjoyed growing flowers and woodworking. He often volunteered at Habitat for Humanity building homes.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are his sons, Rich Humeniuk and his wife Teresa of Baudette, Minnesota and Chad Secrest and his wife Karen of Summerville, SC; six grandchildren, Steven Secrest, Zak Secrest, Austin Secrest, Taylor Humeniuk, Kendra Humeniuk and Alexandra Dollar, and his two furry companions, Bella and Holly, that held a special place in his heart.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Ragon Secrest Dollar.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
