Hopkins, SC….Thomas Anthony D’Anella, age 65, beloved husband of Wendelyn Sumatra, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026, at MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center Downtown, Columbia, SC.
Thomas was born in Denison, Texas, a son of the late Ronald D’Anella and the late Judith Krause Danella. He loved to travel and was always on the road looking for new adventures. He retired from TSA, where he proudly worked for Homeland Security, and he also spent many years working alongside his family at Demara’s Restaurant. He was a Boy Scout leader, a Ham radio enthusiast, and an avid coin collector. Thomas will be remembered for his big heart and his generosity. He was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched.
In addition to his wife, Wendelyn Sumatra, he leaves behind his sisters, Laura Danella Duggan and her husband Gary of Dalzell, and Tammy Sugar of Sumter; his nephew, Gary Duggan Jr. of Oregon.
