Thomas Edward Jones

Sumter, SC……..On July 29, 2024, Thomas Edward Jones, beloved husband of Bernice Jones, departed his earthly life for his heavenly home. 

Thomas Edward Jones, son of the late William and Willidene Jones was born July 21, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York. Thomas received his education in the public schools of Brooklyn, where he graduated. He then enlisted into the United States Airforce. There he completed a short term and returned home to Brooklyn, NY.  Thomas was employed by Kings County Hospital until he moved to South Carolina. 

Thomas was a quiet man who had a love for music, washing his car, and cutting his grass when he was able. Most of all he had a great love for his family.  

In addition to his loving wife of the home, Benice, who dedicated herself to caring for Thomas until his passing. He is also survived by, His loving daughter, Karen Denise Jones Glisson, and her husband, (Nathaniel), granddaughter, Shon Jones Glisson of Sumter, SC. Sisters, Jean Garrett and Elizabeth James, of Brooklyn, New York, and brother, Andrew Van Hope of Cheyenne, WY and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Tracy Jones, and his sister, Martha Johnson.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and give special thanks to Joseph Dinkins and all the staff and caregivers at Agape hospice of Sumter.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 4, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
