Sumter, SC…. Thomas Winfield Turner, age 88, beloved husband of 61 years to Margaret Lovell Turner, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.
Thomas was born in Privateer, Sumter County, SC, a son of the late Thomas Whit Turner and the late Bessie Louise Turner. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lived his life with devotion and integrity. A proud veteran, he served in the United States Air Force for eight years before dedicating 35 years to a career as a truck driver. In his quiet moments, he found joy in watching classic films on PBS. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife, left behind to cherish his memory are his sons; Roger Glenn Turner and his wife Belinda of Dillon, SC, James Robert Turner and his wife Deborah of Eastover, SC, his daughter, Elsie Louise Kreuzer and her husband Shane of Sumter, a brother, James Robert Turner and his wife Hope of Sumter, a sister, Norma Jean Osteen, grandchildren; Nikki Johnson and her husband Jeff, Brittany Turner, Daniel Evan Turner, Savannah Turner, Kristen Bailey, Richard Player, Jr., Ryan Player, great-grandchildren; Logan Johnson and Owen Johnson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, April Denise Turner; his son, Randy Lynn Turner, a brother, Warren Douglas Turner; and his sisters, Addie Louise Turner, Frances Margaret Turner, Susan Elaine Smith, and Mary Josephine Turner.
A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crosswell Children’s Home.
