Veronica "Vera" Osborne Obituary

Veronica (Vera) A. Osborne, was born on February 20, 1960, in Sumter South Carolina. She departed this life on Monday, February 3, 2025, she was 64 years old and enjoyed married life with Barney Osborne, her husband of 39 years.

Vera was the daughter of the late Joseph and Charlotte Krish, both of New York. She is survived by her five loving children: Noel C. Rodgers (Jennifer), Joshua, Charlotte Harrington (John), Anna, and Joe (Meagan). She was also known as “Mops” to her three marvelous grand-daughters, Alex, Sydney, and McKenna whom she treasured. Vera leaves behind a plethora of close friends as well as numerous others that have called her home, their home.

She lived her life as a shining light for whomever was in need; be it food, comfort, or a roof over their head and even a dog or cat that seemed to navigate to her door. She gave cheerfully and without expectation.  Vera lived her life authentically, with an open heart, and a true Christian spirit - a desire to serve others with love and affection. Her generosity was truly boundless.

Vera had a wide variety of talents and loved to learn new things. From rebuilding the engine in her first Carmen Gia, to creating a Christmas ornament that was featured in Woman’s Day magazine. She was prize holder for her visual arts skills in local events. She loved to write, especially books and poems for children and the young at heart.  As an unrivaled cook, she especially enjoyed dishes and desserts from her grandmother's home country of Austria-Hungary, her mother’s “real” New York cheesecake, or her mother-in-law's traditional southern “supper” dishes.  Vera was a graduate of St. Jude High School and the University of South Carolina. Vera began her career as an English teacher for a brief period, spending the remainder of her career as a manufacturing supervisor.

Vera was baptized a Roman Catholic at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Sumter, SC but held love and respect for all faiths. A true lover of Christmas, she was unafraid to light up the neighborhood both literally and figuratively.  She fervently kept her decorations up until the Epiphany and the chalking of the door of her home.
