Sumter, SC…Walter L. Hogg, 87 years, Lt. Col. USAF Ret. and beloved husband of Julianne Hogg for 57 years, passed peacefully at home with his loving family.
He was born in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from Carrick High School, where he was an accomplished football and track athlete. He attended and graduated the US Naval Academy, Annapolis, and went on to serve honorably in the USAF for 20 years. Walter and Julie retired to Sumter, where he continued his public service as an educator for 16 years. They attended Mayesville Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Eleanor Garret, Sara Beth Hasbrouck (Ken), grandchildren John and Rachel Garrett and Asher Hasbrouck, and his brother Norman D. Hogg.
Services will be held privately at Mayesville Black River Cemetery and officiated by Reverend Brian Peake.
