Sumter, SC…. Wayne Douglas Burrows, age 71, died Friday, July 3, 2026, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia.
Born January 19, 1955, in Sumter, he was the son of the late Frank (F.C.) and Eleida (Doll) Burrows. Wayne was married to Barbara Conner for 44 years until her death in September 2018.
He was the owner of WB Trucking Company. Wayne was an independent contractor for excavation, land clearing, and hauling large equipment. Wayne was known for his quick wit and his strong work ethic. In his spare time, he enjoyed repairing and restoring cars.
Wayne was a member of Westside Baptist Church for many years. Prior to this, he and his family attended New Salem Baptist. He was baptized on November 10, 1963, and rededicated his life to Christ in 2000. He experienced kidney failure in 2002 and received a kidney transplant in 2005.
Wayne is survived by his son, Clint and his wife Erin Burrows from Sumter; a daughter, Bridgett Burrows from Beaufort; four grandchildren, Abigail and her husband Chase Jett, Rhett Burrows, Brooke McIntosh, and Paige Burrows; one great-grandson, Toby Jett; two siblings, Mike Burrows and Cheryl Burrows Davids; three sisters-in-law, Wanda Finley, Renee Hudson, and Peggy McTeer, and a host of nieces and nephews. Wayne is also survived by a special friend, Donna Brown Holland.
In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Conner.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
