Sumter, SC… Wescott Jason Wilder, age 76, beloved husband of 49 years to Keiko Saito Wilder, died on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Continued Care Baptist Hospital.
Born in Sumter, SC, he was the son of the late James Wilder, Jr. and Essie Louise Binns Wilder. After high school, Jason attended Morris Brown College and afterwards enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served his country proudly for over 23 years and retired in 1994 as a MSGT. After retiring from the air force, Jason and Keiko settled in Sumter where he worked for the Sumter County Drug and Alcohol Commission as a drug and alcohol abuse counselor. Jason enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with his family. He will be remembered as a very devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Kenji Wilder of Sumter, a daughter, Nicole Wilder Brown and her husband, Kevin of Columbia, a cousin, Denise Hartley and her husband John of Columbia, and a grandson, Aiden Brown.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 3:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gwen Parker officiating. The service will conclude with full military honors.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 2:00 – 3:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
