William E. "Bill" Elliott

Sumter, SC… William E. “Bill”  Elliott, age 93, beloved husband of over sixty-seven years to Betty Lou Elliott, died on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at The Terrace in Bishopville, SC..

Born in Port Washington, Ohio, he is the son of the late Fred Elliott and Mary Neighbor Elliott.   Bill was a veteran of the US Army.  He retired from both Exide Battery and Sumter Packaging Co.  He enjoyed playing golf, but his true joy in life came from spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.  Bill was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

He is survived by, two sons, Kevin Elliott, and his wife Candice of Lugoff and Kris Elliott and his wife Carol of Greenville; seven grandchildren, Carrie Gulledge, Jessica Young, Megan Elliott, Kimberly Christopher, Dylan Elliott, Retta Cross, and Ryan Runkle; and nine great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter Lori Sue Elliott, a daughter, Linda Christopher, a son, Kip Elliott, and a sister, Harriet Anne Braniger.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 12:00 pm at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Rev. Laura Whitt officiating.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service, from 11:00-12:00 pm at Aldersgate United Methodist Church and at the residence on Monday, April 17, 2023, between the hours of 10:00 am – 7:00 pm.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
