Sumter, SC…. William Ray Hodge, age 81, beloved husband of the late Ruth Brock Hodge, died on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family and friends.
Born in Sumter, SC, he was the son of the late Horace Brown and Teletha Bryant Brown. Ray worked at Piggly Wiggly in Sumter for many years. He was an avid Clemson Football fan, and a Dallas Cowboys fan. Ray enjoyed watching Nascar and enjoyed going to races at Darlington Raceway, always pulling for Richard Petty. Ray never met a stranger and could talk to anybody. He loved his family and spending as much time with them as he could. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by; two sons, William Bryan Hodge and wife Shannon, and Raymond Lee Hodge; one daughter, Patricia Johnson; one sister, Gloria Morris and husband Dwight Morris; ten grandchildren, David Hodge, Tiffani Porter, Cody Buff, William Johnson, Sabrina Hodge, Matthew Hodge, Jacob Hodge, Dalton Hodge, Noah Hodge, Carly Hodge; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents he is preceded in death by; his son, Robert Wayne Hodge; four brothers, Hubert Hodge, Norman Hodge, Glenn Hodge, and Hollie Brown.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 12:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Rivers officiating. The burial will follow the service at Sumter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 11:00 – 12:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
