William Herschel Lowe, Jr.

Sumter, SC…………….. William Herschel Lowe, Jr., age 90, beloved husband of the late Betty Lowe, died on Thursday, February 20th, 2025 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Mr. Lowe was born in Bostwick, GA, a son of the late William Hershcel Lowe, Sr. and Ruby Knight Lowe. William served 32 years in the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War and Vietnam. He has resided in Sumter since 1978 and was a huge Nascar fan. He was a deacon at Hickory Road Baptist Church for many years.

Survivors are: Two sons, David Lowe and his fiancée Char Lloyd of Sumter and Donald Lowe and his wife Laura of Myrtle Beach, SC; Two daughters, Donna Benenhaley of Sumter, SC and Pam Stone and her husband Ron of Hayden, AL; 8 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Betty of 55 years.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025 at 12:00pm at the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Lowe officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00am – 12:00pm, at Bullock Funeral Home.
