Sumter, SC…Barbara Maxine Ross was born November 7, 1942 in Sumter, SC to the late AQ Blease and Lina Belle Jordan. She entered the gates of heaven on December 19, 2023.
She was the second born of four children and grew up with her sisters Judy Rinner, Linda Ridgeway and the late Marilyn Deason.
She is proceeded in death by her husband Benny Lee Ross with whom they raised 6 children: Benny Ross Jr., Johnny Ross, Regina Schroepfer (Thomas), Adrienne Brown (Johnny), Robert Ross and Jackie Ross.
She loved and doted on her 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren whom affectionately called her Granny. She was welcomed into her heavenly home by her grandson R.J. Ross and leaves behind to carry on her legacy: April Green, Jordan Ross (Brett), Amber Elliott, Brittany Ross, Jackie Ross Jr. (Ellen), Tyler Green, Camden Green, Blakeleigh Ross, Brianna Ross and Carolina Ross.
She dedicated her life to serving her family and her community. She worked for many years at the United Way of Sumter and after retiring worked for the The Shepard Center before retiring again.
She will forever be remembered for her smile and infectious laugh because she loved laughing, her hands as she loved to grow flowers, hydrangeas were her favorite, her hugs, her love of cooking, and her heart to give and serve and certainly her love of all puzzles, especially crosswords.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 5:00 -7:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 12:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. The interment will follow the service in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
