Clarice (McElveen) Staley

Sumter, SC… Clarice McElveen Staley, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at her residence.

Born in Clarendon County, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Earl McElveen and Lorelle Player McElveen.  Clarice worked as a self-employed bookkeeper and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She is survived by her son, Michael Wayne Staley, and his wife Terri of Sumter; a sister, Cynthia M. Hamilton of Smithfield, NC; a grandson, Michael Lea Staley; four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne M. McElveen, and two sisters, Judy McElveen, and Marilyn Hyatt

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 3:00-5:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
