Frank William (Bill) Otto Jr, 67, of Sumter, SC entered into Eternal Glory on Nov 14, 2023, at Tuomey Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born July 20, 1956, in Orange Park, FL, he was the only son to Frank Otto Sr and Jeanette Heverly-Smith.
Spending most of his life in Sumter, Bill graduated from Sumter High in 1973 and then attended Erskine College where he loved playing on the soccer team.
Bill returned to Sumter and settled in to a 39-year career with Ard’s Appliance and quickly became a valued member of the Ard’s Appliance family. Mr. CW and Mark have always said Bill was an asset to the business. He was a very hard worker and loyal to the Company. He will be missed.
Bill met the love of his life, Lynn (Daughrity) Otto, in 1990 dancing the night away. Lynn always knew where he was on the dance floor because, being a tall man, he loved to dance with his hands raised high. Excited to start their new lives together, they married that same year. Bill loved Lynn very much along with their dogs.
He also remained involved with soccer either playing or refereeing. In fact, he taught himself Spanish in order to support the local leagues.
The Bible says, "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth.” Bill lived this out naturally from his heart and, as a result, he is loved by many.
Bill is survived by his wife, 1 sister, 2 nieces, 2 stepsons, and 3 step grandchildren.
