Lexington, SC…Harriet Wilkinson Payne, age 75, beloved wife of the late Thomas Albert Payne, Sr., died on Monday, February 21, 2022 at NHC Healthcare of Lexington.
Born in Athens, GA, she was the daughter of the late Harry Eugene Wilkinson and Katherine DuBose Wilkinson. Mrs. Payne graduated from Edmunds High School and attended the University of South Carolina. She worked for over 30 years as the executive assistant to the president of Central Carolina Technical College. Her family was her passion especially her grandchildren. She loved vacationing and traveling in the Mountains. Mrs. Payne was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are: one son, Thomas A. “Chip” Payne, Jr. and his wife, Shannon of Lexington; one daughter, Ashleigh Payne Sease and her husband Jimmy of Flowery Branch, GA; two sisters, Janet Purvis and her husband Andy of Corpus Christi, TX, and Margaret Hutchens and her husband Robert of Sumter; five grandchildren, Caroline Payne, Catie Payne, Tripp Payne, Cooper Sease, and Connor Sease.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 25, 2022, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Stuart Mizelle officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 230 Alice Drive, Sumter, SC 29150.
