Sumter, SC …. Jimmie Donald Casey, age 85, beloved husband, of 57 years, to Ravonda Ambrose Casey, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Gardens of Sumter.
Born in Portales, NM, he was a son of the late Robert F. “Buster’ Casey and Marie Jewel King Casey. Raised in New Mexico, Jim attended Eastern New Mexico University where he received his bachelor’s degree. After graduation he joined the US Navy and served for four years. He met and married Ravonda, who was the love of his life for over 57 years. Jim worked as a software engineer in Virginia Beach, VA, where he and Ravonda lived for forty years. After retirement they moved to Boone, NC before moving to Greenville, NC. They eventually would move to Sumter, SC to be close to their son and daughter-in-law. He will be remembered as a very loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Surviving, in addition to his wife are, two sons, Jonathan Bryant Casey of VA, and Robert Adam Casey and his wife Kuniko of Sumter, SC; a brother, William “Frank” Casey; a sister, Kathy Casey-Myers, and two grandchildren, Michelle Momoko Casey and Caroline Aiko Casey.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 10:00 am, at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with Military Honors.
