Lynchburg, SC… John Edward Baumes, age 75, beloved husband of 23 years to Debra Jane Grier Baumes, died on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Prisma Health Tuomey.
Born in Baltimore, MD he was the son of the late Carol Edward Baumes and Anna Marie Kindig Baumes. John served his country proudly in the US Air Force. While in the air force, John worked as a helicopter mechanic and during his time in Alask, he served on the air rescue team. He was also a flight simulator technician. John retired as a TSGT after 22 years of service. After his military career he worked as an electrician as well as a maintenance mechanic. John was a jack of all trades and was able to fix anything that came his way. He was known to have a straightforward personality and was both very honest and kind. He loved his family and friends very much and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Debra, a son Craig Edward Baumes of Lynchburg, SC, and two sisters, Linda Fairbanks and Anna Lohan of Allen, TX.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, John Edward Baumes, Jr.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 3:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. The service will conclude with full military honors.
