Rembert, SC…Leroy Jones, age 92, beloved husband of the late
Betty Frances Ray Jones, died on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at his residence.
Born in Cullman County, AL, he was the son of the late Walter Jones and Sarah Brown Jones. Leroy was a member of the US Air Force and served in Vitenam. He retired as a SSGT after over 20 years of service. He was a very Godly man and was a faithful member of DeKalb Baptist Church. Leroy loved his tractor and working on the farm. He enjoyed cooking and playing his harmonica. He will be remembered as a very loving and devoted father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He is survived by his daughter, Anissa Thompson and her husband Phil of Dalzell, SC; a stepson, Tommy Gardner and his wife Elaine of Horatio; two stepdaughters, Diane Jackson, and Debbie McGeehan, both of Horatio; a niece, Jessie Ann Russell; six grandchildren, Amber Iwanczenko, Kayla Fonteyne, Daniel Benenhaley, Brad Lemon, Tiffany Standley, and Racheal Henderson; six great grandchildren, Tristen Iwanczenko, John Iwanczenko, Ivy Grace Fonteyne, Abbi Benenhaley, Ethan Benenhaley, and Rhiannon Lemon; and three great-great grandchildren, Ella Grace, Alice, and Demitri.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 4:00 pm at Dekalb Baptist Church with Rev. Vince Earles officiating. The interment will follow the service in the DeKalb Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors.
The family will receive friends, one hour prior to the service, from 3:00 – 4:00 pm at Dekalb Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by; two sisters, Polly Holt, and Betty Sue Jackson, and a stepdaughter, Frances Lorraine Wolff
