Richard Lee Harshman

Sumter, SC……… Richard Lee Harshman, age 82, beloved husband of 27 years to Rachel Harriett Monroe Harshman, died on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Harshman was born in Hagerstown, MD, a son of the late Omar Harshman and Madeline Hornbaker Harshman. He served in the United States Air Force retiring after 20 years 3months and 6 days. He also retired from the Department of Corrections.

Surviving in addition to his wife are: Four sons, Richard Lee Harshman, Jr. of Hagerstown, MD, Gary Harshman of Hagerstown, MD, Steven Harshman and his wife Miriam of Sumter, SC, and David Harshman and his wife Jennifer of Charleston, SC; Two step-sons, Ronald Rising of Chestertown, NY and Richard Rising and his wife Nicole of Brant Lake, NY; One brother, Gary Harshman and his wife Zennie of Bethune, SC; One niece, Tina Harshman-Price of Bethune, SC; One nephew, Gary Harshman, Jr of Hagerstown, MD; 31 Grandchildren; and 33 Great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, One son, Dwayne Harshman, One step-son, Robert Rising, and 3 grandsons.

A memorial service with full military honors will be held on Saturday, May 13th, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marvis Stewart and Rev. David Richardson officiating.
